How a Mobile Podiatrist works
We make it easy to book in your appointment.
We recognise the need for home-visit services to ensure everyone has equal access to the podiatry care they need and deserve.
We utilise the newest technologies to offer gold standard treatment options to those unable to attend a clinic. This includes 3D digital scanning, online exercise programmes, cloud based booking systems and more.
The Foot Stop treats all issues relating to the legs and feet; including sports injuries, paediatric/children’s feet & diabetic foot management.
What do I need to have ready for the home visit appointment?
- A comfortable chair for you to sit in
- A well-lit room with space in front of the chair to lift your feet.
- Access to your footwear and medications for the Podiatrist to view
- A smile (that will make us smile too!)
What is involved in a home visit/ FAQ’s?
You do not need a referral to gain access to our services.
However, you may be able to access to government funding to cover some of the cost of your podiatry visit. Check your eligibility with our friendly admin staff.
The common funding streams are:
Private Health Insurance
You may be able to claim back a portion of the cost on your insurance, depending on your level of cover. Call you insurer and ask if you have podiatry cover.
Medicare (Chronic Disease Management Referral)
Your GP will determine eligibility. Ask your GP for a care plan review to start the process and ask to be referred to us for podiatry care.
DVA D904 referral
If you have a DVA Gold Card, your GP may determine your eligibility. Ask your GP for a care plan review to organise a D904 podiatry referral to our services.
My Aged Care
We accept all aged care funding streams including:
Commonwealth Home Support Package (CHSP)
Home Care Package (HCP)
Short term restorative care package (STRC)
You will have had a ACAT assessment and will be allocated aged care funding through a ‘package provider’. During the ACAT assessment, or when you are signed up with a provider, tell them you want The Foot Stop to provide your in-home podiatry services.
Alternatively, call us with the details of your case manager/funder and we can assist you.
NDIS
There are different processes depending on your management plan (self, plan or agency managed funding). Call our friendly admin team for more information.
A fully-qualified podiatrist will attend your home and set up at your feet. If you don’t have a recliner, we have a customised foot-stool to rest your feet on.
The Podiatrist may ask the following questions to get a holisitic idea of your wellbeing and health:
- Are you on medications? (if so, have the names available)
- Do you have a chronic disease?
- Have you had any major surgery?
- Do you have any ongoing medical issues?
- Do you have foot or leg pain? If so, where and how long has it been occurring?
- What makes the pain worse, and what relieves the pain?
The Podiatrist will talk you through the treatment process to ensure you are feeling at ease. If you have any questions- please ask us! We love explaining our specialised treatments to our patients.
The process may take between 20-30minutes depending on the appointment type and issues we are treating.
After the initial podiatry visit, the podiatrist will write a full report to your referrer (case manager or GP) to outline the issues, treatment regime and goals we have created together.
*Please note, Podiatrists are allied health professionals. We are not a beauty therapists and do not offer massage and nail painting.
