3D-Printed Orthotics: Custom, Flexible and Made For You

Custom Orthotics

Orthotics have come a long way from the rigid, plaster-cast devices many people picture. At The Foot Stop, we can now design and 3D print custom orthotics in-clinic, beginning with a detailed 3D scan of your feet.

The result is a flexible, precisely fitted orthotic designed around the shape of your feet, the way you move and your individual support needs.

How Are 3D-Printed Orthotics Made?

Rather than taking a plaster cast and sending it to an external laboratory, we use a handheld 3D scanner to capture the shape and contours of your feet in just a few minutes.

The scan creates a detailed digital model that one of our podiatrists can use to design an orthotic tailored to your foot posture, walking pattern, footwear and the concern being addressed. This may include heel pain, arch discomfort, recurring pressure or support for a particular sport or work environment.

The completed design is then sent to our in-clinic 3D printer. Because the process takes place on-site, we can fine-tune the fit, make adjustments where needed and keep you involved throughout the process.

Why Choose Flexible Orthotics?

Our 3D-printed orthotics are made using a flexible material rather than the rigid shells commonly associated with older orthotic devices.

Depending on your individual prescription, flexible orthotics may provide:

  • A shorter and more comfortable adjustment period
  • Support that moves naturally with your foot
  • Improved comfort throughout the day
  • A lighter and more streamlined fit inside your shoes
  • Options suitable for work shoes, trainers and sporting footwear
  • Support designed around your walking or running pattern

For many people, this means their new orthotics feel comfortable from early in the wearing process, rather than only after an extended adjustment period.

Individually Designed for Your Feet

Custom orthotics are not a one-size-fits-all product. The design, flexibility, cushioning and level of support can be adjusted according to your feet, symptoms, footwear, daily activities and treatment goals.

Before recommending orthotics, your podiatrist will assess your feet and movement to determine whether they are appropriate for you. Orthotics are only prescribed where the assessment indicates that you are likely to benefit from them.

Our New Burleigh Podiatry Clinic Is Opening in Late October 2026

We are excited to be opening our new clinic at 6/33 Tallebudgera Creek Road, West Burleigh, in late October 2026.

The new location will offer our in-house 3D foot scanning and orthotic printing service, alongside the full range of podiatry care The Foot Stop is known for.

Buy One, Get One Free on Custom Orthotics

To celebrate the opening of our new Burleigh clinic, eligible patients who are prescribed custom orthotics can receive two full sets for the price of one.

This means you could keep one set in your work shoes and another in your trainers, without needing to move your orthotics between different pairs of shoes.

Orthotics will only be prescribed when your podiatry assessment shows they are suitable for your feet and individual needs.
